I’ll Praise You In This Storm

I just wanted to share a story about my first trip out of state EVER! A story about trusting in God and believing in His faithfulness.

A few weeks ago my 6 year old son and I traveled to Oklahoma. We followed my family up there, I’m not the greatest with directions or maps. On the way to Oklahoma it began to rain heavily, the wind picked up, and the road was almost impossible to see,I was terrified. The closer we got to the Oklahoma border the worse the weather got, we could barely see where we were going through sheets of rain and my  weather alert on my phone kept going off saying tornado watch. When lightning would strike you could see funnel shaped clouds coming down. My son was cool as a cucumber through all of it. I don’t think I have ever felt panic like that in my life. Crazy thoughts went through my head, “What if I don’t make it to Oklahoma? What if I don’t make it home? What will become of my daughter and husband if we don’t make it back ?”. But what went through my head that bothered me the most was “I am carrying precious cargo in this car, and what if  I can’t protect him?”.

I reached my hand back to my son and said you have got to pray with mama because she is very scared right now. He took my hand and prayed, then I too prayed. I turned my music up and cried out to God for help. I asked Jesus to please calm the storm like He commanded the waves to cease. I spoke out His promises and truths. As I was crying out, worshiping and praying to God I heard a voice say, ” Where is your God? Why is this storm still raging? Shouldn’t this have stopped by now, you asked Him right? Just like I said where is your God?”. That ugly word DOUBT! That’s what I was doing, having doubts and questioning His sovereignty. Be Patient! Never put a question mark where God put a period! The enemy seeks out opportunities to make you have doubts and to question what you believe in. He looks to discredit our loving Lord.

6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.8Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:6-8

I continued to pray and pressed into worship and I heard a word from God. He said “Be Patient”. So I continued to pray and worship and cry out that God knows the desire of my heart right now is to arrive at my destination without injury. I was reassured that God is who He says He is and he made the rain the clouds the wind and everything else. I told myself I must be patient! Within a matter of minutes the rain slowed down significantly and I was able to see where I was going. We crossed the border and the closer we got to our destination the less it rained until finally it stopped!

Joshua 23:14 HCSB I am now going the way of all the earth, and you know with all your heart and all your soul that none of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed. Everything was fulfilled for you; not one promise has failed.

Sometimes we ask for things in prayer and they come instantly, sometimes we have to wait a little bit, sometimes we have to wait a while and be patient, and sometimes our prayer is answered in a way that feels like it wasn’t really answered at all. I just want to re-assure you that our God is a loving and caring God. He knew you before you were formed in your mothers womb and He knows every need before you even pray for it.

Numbers 23:19 HCSB God is not a man who lies, or a son of man who changes His mind. Does He speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?

Over the past few months God has repeatedly shown me who He is. He has shown me His strength and that He is faithful to His word. Anything you are going through, any trial you are faced with He already knows and He already has a solution. If you put your trust in Him and allow Him to completely change your life you will see what He can do through you.

Remember to praise Him in every circumstance. You are alive and breathing and reading this. He has a plan for your life. He loves you so much He allowed His son to endure a painful torturous death.

My prayer:

Lord I pray that your children would come before you with their needs, lay their burdens down at your feet. I pray that faith would be strengthened and lives would be committed to you. Lord you are sovereign, you are capable of all things. I pray your children would rise up and spread the message of Your love across the world. I pray that people would see the work that You do and their hearts would be turned to you, that there would be a great revival across the nations of the world. I pray that chains would begin to fall off of those who are oppressed and the captives would be set free in Your name! Bring an outpouring Lord. I thank You for Your love, Your grace, Your mercy, Your never ending promises. Thank you for everything! Amen Jesus

Genesis 28:15 Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.
1 Corinthians 1:9 NLT God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Mark 4:35-41 HCSB 35 As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.”36 He was already in the boat, so they started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).37 But soon a fierce storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water.38 Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you even care that we are going to drown?”39 When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, “Quiet down!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

40 And he asked them, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?”41 And they were filled with awe and said among themselves, “Who is this man, that even the wind and waves obey him?”
Romans 4:20-21 NASB 20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.
